Does anyone have an opinion?

I'm considering the purchase of instrument recording computer software and I do not now where to start. Does anyone have or now of a good program that will allow me to record/mix/re-mix/edit live music? Music like me playing a guitar, or harmonica, or something else. The program needs to allow multiple recordings to be layered in order to produce a final product.

Essentially I want to turn my computer in to a super functional, super quality music production studio.

Thanks for your thoughts,
Hopper

Cool Edit Pro by Adobe is really good. It's what we use here at the station for both news and live music productions.

Well you need all the inputs too. I hope this is for a desktop and not a laptop, but check this out:
